I've just finished this. As the book title says it is written by a running obsessive and is best read by other running obsessives! The history of the sport, often told through conversations and visits to former champions, is the most interesting part. The author also tackles the Bob Graham Round - one of those pointless challanges where the object is to run a certain number of peaks within 24 hours. (Not sure what the equivalent would be in Fenland; running as many rivers and drains within 24hours?) From reading this account it is also easy to see why UK Athletics and their predecessors have been (and still are?) hated for their ridicuous rules over who can, and who can't, run in race.
