Species | Boletus queletii |
| Date/Ref | 19 July 2003 /1a (46kB JPEG) |
| Location | Near Wymondham, Norfolk |
| Habitat | Roadside grass verge. |
| Notes | Probably about two weeks old. You can clearly
see the stipe has a pointed base and has a dark purple colour. The ground was
very dry and I managed to extract the stipe in one piece. Often the
stipe is firmly rooted in the ground and more often than not it breaks if you
try to pull it out.

| Notes | The colour of the stipe flesh is very similar to that of
cooked beetroot and is a very good indicator for this species. |
